The FN MK 48 MOD 1 offers a lighter, more portable platform with an increased range and deeper penetration of the potent 7.62x51mm bullet. It was created for use by American special operators to be light and small enough to keep up with swiftly moving forces as they move forward and get closer to the enemy. When a mobile, lightweight machine gun of a more significant caliber is required, the MK 48 MOD 1 can also support conventional ground forces.
The MK 48 MOD 1 features three MIL-STD-1913 rails, an updated gas block, a vented hand guard with an enhanced heat shield, and improved receiver pins. The cold hammer-forged MIL-SPEC barrel on the MK 48 MOD 1 has a hard-chromed bore for increased durability and accuracy.
