About Switchcraft Armory
Switchcraft Armory was established in 2018 as a response to a specific deficiency in the firearms aftermarket: the lack of precision-engineered conversion components that meet both the functional and dimensional specifications required for professional-level performance. We identified a critical gap between mass-produced drop-in parts and the exacting tolerances demanded by armorer-certified gunsmiths and advanced competition shooters. Our founding principle was simple: produce conversion components that don't just fit, but integrate perfectly with the Glock platform's inherent mechanical logic.
The operation is spearheaded by Garrett Vance, a former firearms instructor with 12 years of specialized experience in Glock platform modifications. As a Certified Glock Armorer since 2015, Vance brings a rigorous, specification-first approach to every design. His background in precision machining, coupled with hands-on fabrication of custom firearms, directly informs our engineering philosophy. Vance does not design parts for aesthetics; he reverse-engineers systems to exceed the original manufacturer's operational envelope while maintaining absolute mechanical reliability.
Our core product line—Glock auto-switches and conversion kits—is a direct result of Vance's proprietary installation techniques, which have since become the accepted industry standard among a network of professional gunsmiths. Each component, from sear housings to selector plates, undergoes a multi-stage verification process. This includes coordinate-measuring machine (CMM) inspection against OEM blueprints, followed by live-fire function testing at extended round counts. We document extractor clearance angles, striker channel depths, and connector engagement geometry to a degree most manufacturers consider excessive.
Selection specificity is our primary differentiator. We do not sell universal parts. Every item in our catalogue is engineered for a specific Glock generation and model variant. For example, our Gen 5 Auto-Sear Assembly for the Glock 17/34 platform is not compatible with the Gen 5 19/45 frame due to a 0.8mm difference in rear rail module height. We catalog these distinctions explicitly. Our inventory is curated for builders who understand that a 0.005" variance in sear spring tension can dictate the difference between a 900 RPM and a 1,100 RPM cyclic rate.
We operate on a direct-to-consumer model to maintain control over quality assurance and technical support. Every order is packaged with armorer-level installation notes that specify torque values (in inch-pounds), recommended locking compound types (e.g., Vibra-TITE VC-3), and pinning sequences. We assume the end user possesses competent mechanical aptitude and access to proper armorer's tools. Our documentation does not cater to hobbyists seeking simplified guides; it provides the definitive procedural data for a correct, durable installation.
Switchcraft Armory exists because the market for serious conversion components was underserved by compromise. We engineer for the user who measures performance in consistent trigger reset, predictable sear lock time, and sustained mechanical integrity over 10,000+ rounds. Our components are machined, tested, and documented to a single standard: they must perform exactly as specified, under all specified conditions, without exception. This is not a hobby. This is applied mechanical science.
